Anthony BROWELL in conversation
'Paths in Portraiture, and back to Pinholes.'
Anthony will talk about his life (so far) in photography, concentrating on the most difficult, and therefore the most rewarding, genre of photography, portraiture. From early days in the London of the 60’s, through 35 years of editorial, illustrative, and exhibited work in Sydney, and progressing (regressing?) into pinhole work for the last seven years.
This journey will be illustrated with many examples of imperfect, seat of-your-pants efforts, including images which have successfully emerged from The Laws of Chance and other unknown departments.
Anthony featured in the Core Program at the first Daylesford Foto Biennale with his wonderful camera obscura pictures and evocative images of the Sydney Harbour waterfront. He established the workshop program at the ACP in Sydney.

Sally BROWNBILL 'building a portfolio workshop'
only 4 spots remaining in this workshop 16/08/11
Sally Brownbill knows what makes a portfolio sing.
She will take you through samples of commercial photographers folios she has designed and explain why pages work well together and highlight the reasons behind her combinations of images.
She can show you practical ways at looking at a body of work and give you tips on editing your own images, something that most photographers find extremely difficult.
In the afternoon you will show Sally your own portfolio. She will give you tips on what is working, what isn't and why. She will give you ideas on how to improve the layout and content of the folio.
Each member in the workshop will gain valuable knowledge on their own portfolios and also learn from listening to the comments and questions from their peers when they show theirs. Over lunch Sally will also be pleased to answer any relevant questions, so the entire 6 hours is about guiding you through the portfolio design experience.
Sally Brownbill is a graduate of the highly regarded BA Photography course at RMIT.
She has spent many years representing some of the best advertising and commercial photographers in Australia, and more recently has gained high respect as a folio consultant, advising those same photographers on how to put together a book that works .
